The Conservative-led Essex County Council has provided Chelmsford City Council with £286,000 to distribute to small or medium-sized businesses which have made, or are intending to make, adaptations to their premises and/or operations in order to continue to trade in a Covid-secure environment. Grants of £500, £1,000 and £1,500 are available, depending on the type of adaptation made. Grants are only available in respect of expenditure after 15th October 2020 and no payments will be made after 15th February 2021.

The Government is reviewing Covid-19 restrictions every two weeks. You only need to apply once for a grant. The City Council will pay any grant that is due up to the date of application. It will review applications every time restrictions change to pay any new grant that you are eligible for.
